BEGINNER'S DRAWING AND PAINTING COURSES
Youth and Beginner's Drawing Class I and II
This class must be taken before the beginner’s oil painting class.
In this class each student will complete one classical drawing suitable for framing (excellent gift!) and workshop
their own creative work with expert guidance. The first half of the class will be spent in discussion and
practice of specific training techniques. The second half of the class time will provide a quiet, guided
environment for improving and experimenting with creative work from realism to fantasy.
Topics explored will be:
drawing materials
famous artists and style
sight size technique
comparative measuring
technique
principles of line, shading and composition
Schedule: Wednesdays from 3-4:30
October 12, 26th ,Nov.16, 30th, Dec 7th
NOTE:
Most of these days at the same time downstairs at the Calico Rabbit Craft Mall is a 10+ drop in craft clas for $5 for siblings!
Fees: $40 for a 4 week course/payable at first session
Additional
fees: $15 material/model fee plus purchase of a 9x12 sketchbook

Youth and Beginner's Oil Painting Class
This class
builds on the principles learned in the Drawing Class. In this session, the student will learn about basic color skills
and handling of oil paints and materials without the commitment of buying all of his or her own materials. The student
will do a color copy of something that he/she likes and complete a simple still life from objects of their choice.
Topics explored will be:
Color mixing
Proper care and use of oil painting supplies
How to translate what you see into paint/
painting masses
Developing
style
Schedule: Coming spring 2012
Fees: $100 for a 6 week course/payable at first session (includes most materials)
Class size 5-10/ ages 12 to adult
Introduction to The
Portrait
In this
class, the student will complete a drawn study as well as an oil portrait from a live model. Each person will be guided
through setting up and will learn how to break down the project into manageable sections. Discussion will continue on
style, color mixing, and technique. Drawing class and painting class are prerequisites.
